At the last regularly scheduled check-up, we were supposed to discuss inducing delivery. It wasn't that the baby was late, it just was that he was so big and My was petite. "Well, are your bags packed? Because you need to go to the hospital right now," said Doctor Johnson in calm and collected manner. The statement caused the exact opposite reaction in my and My's mind. We thought that he would merely schedule us into his calendar later in the week.
"Okay, here we go," as we headed home to pack and set up our dog to be outside for a couple of days; who by the way, is still outside. Then, off to the hospital where My was admitted about 6:30 pm on July 16, 2007. It started slow and uneventful. I began reading a Star Wars book, and My read glamour mags. After numerous visits from family, numerous walks around the halls, several visits from doctors/nurses, and several hours of hard pre-epidural labor, over about 27 1/2 hours, at about 10:00 pm on July 17, 2007, we had baby.
The delivery was a c-section, and based on his size (8 lbs, 9 oz and 21"), the doctors said that he was not coming out any other way. The baby had a little fluid left in his lungs, but it was fine. After the initial crying, he was fairly calm and observant. As for eating, he didn't have too much problem latching on, but that is another story. As for pooping, he didn't have any problem in that department. He must have been holding it, or something. Needlesstosay, he was instantaneously "the love of our lives."
